Micromobility Portal Session at Smart Cities New York 2019 Conference

On May 15th, our COO and Senior GIS Specialist, Mary Bracho, participated in the Micromobility Portal session at the 3rd Annual Smart Cities New York conference. Founding members of the Urbantech NYC:The Grid namely Shared Studios, World Economic Forum, DART Technologies and Walkspan connected with others in Los Angeles, California for a very special interactive experience.  Portals are a network of immersive spaces placed in public parks, squares, and plazas around the world by Shared Studios. Inside, distant participants appear life-sized, maintain eye contact, and interact as if in the same room. Conversations about new initiatives within the cities for alternative transportation, last mile problems and solutions and the use of bike-share or electric scooters took place. Contributing to the conversation of micromobility was important for Walkspan. We like to remind everyone that WALKING is an integral part of multi-modal transportation systems. Embracing walkers and the walking environment at every stage of smart city planning will make for a more liveable, green and safe city.
